FAQs

What phones are compatible with Ringer? Any modern smartphone that can accept an eSIM. The iPhone 11, Pixel 4, Galaxy S20, Motorola G23 or newer all support multiple eSIM. Generally, If you purchased your phone in the last 6 years it probably supports eSIM.
Does Ringer require an app to be installed on the phone? No, the Ringer service integrates natively into the phone, there is nothing to install. Simply scan the QR code and follow the instructions.
Does the Ringer service provide device management? No, device management (sometimes called MDM or EDM) is handled by the phones IOS or Android operating system.
Can the user disable the Ringer service on their device themselves? Yes. The secondary eSIM can be deleted at any time by the subscriber.
Can the device be wiped remotely in case it is lost, stolen, or the employee is no longer with the company? Not by us. That is a feature of mobile device management and is enabled in the phones operating system by the subscriber; sometimes it is required by the employer. If you are looking for an MDM/EDM solution let us know and we can help point you in the right direction.
Can I assign more than one line to a person? Yes. Using the Ringer portal, you can assign as many lines to as many (or as few) employees as you like.
Can I manage anything else about the line itself like voicemail, failover numbers, caller ID, etc.? All the mobile services such as call forwarding, call waiting, voicemail etc can be managed via the Ringer portal.
How does the separate profile work on the phone, and how does that compare to an MDM or MDM solution like in InTune? Ringer provides the phone with voice, text, and data connectivity. The device itself is managed by the owner. Most phone operating systems have the ability to split personas between work and personal. Third-party services may help the subscriber manage that split.
What control do I have over corporate data? Phones are a nexus of personal and private information. Even when companies provide a second phone, the personal phone still “touches” company data. It’s not safe to assume that carrying a second phone actually does anything to protect company data. However, at Ringer, we can provide a way for company’s to have insight into how the Ringer line is used. Calls, texts and data usage are all logged and can even routed over a VPN back to the corporate network directly from the device eSIM. We don’t provide the ability to intercept, no one is listening to calls, reading messages or viewing a subscribers browsing history). However, the logs are available to the account holder and include the from, to and time of all calls and texts as well as the amount of data used and type.
If I am using certain apps specifically for work, can I configure each app to use one account versus the other? Most devices have support for profile management. You can configure the profile to use one SIM or another and any apps installed to that profile will default to the Ringer SIM for data. This way you can keep your SalesForce app on your Ringer line and your Netflix streaming on your personal.
Is Ringer a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO)? No, Ringer is not an MVNO. We have no MVNO agreements with any carriers and we are not tied to one US network operator. Because we built our own core network, we interconnect with all of them. This gives you redundancy across multiple network and the security of knowing that we will always connect your device to the strongest network, wherever you roam. Most MVNO’s do not operator their own network but instead resell a host network from T-Mobile, Verizon or AT&T. This include Mint Mobile (TMO), Cricket (AT&T), GoogleFi (TMO), Spectrum (Verizon), Xfinity (Verizon), etc.
How is Ringer different than other services like Joonto?

Joonto’s platform utilizes call forwarding and connects with mobile apps to track, manage, and monitor work phone calls and texts.

Ringer is a Mobile Network Operator with the ability to connect directly to all radio operator networks, like AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. We can do this because we built a packet core network and manage all of the voice, data and text network. This also allows us to give native control and insight via our customer platform.

What if the phone is locked (to an existing service provider)? Locked phones may still be compatible so get in touch with us to find out whether your device(s) will work. Verizon unlocks phones after 60 days from purchase. AT&T and T-Mobile are currently reviewing FCC proceedings on whether they should do the same.
